Meet our

Jennifer Holmes

I love everything books! I read 2-3 books a week, attend many book events, and proudly run the Orange County Girly Book Club! I enjoy writing for the GBC blog, and have just started my own blog. http://www.wellreadtraveler.com

Julia Wreford

I recently moved back to Toronto after finishing my post-grad studies in Guelph. One of the first things I did when I moved back to the city was join the Toronto GBC chapter. I like to have a few books on the go, and my favourite genres include memoirs and psychological thrillers.

Grace Ward

I am an avid reader and writer ever since I was a child and I read Alice in Wonderland for the first time, I have been captivated by literature so much so I am currently undertaking a full time degree in English Literature and Creative Writing along side my full time job. I hope to one day to be a full time writer for a living. I am currently writing my first novel and have written a lot of short stories prior to this. My favourite genre of books are definitely science fiction I tend to devour these in days quicker than any other genre I read. I am starting to read more factual books such as Homo Deus and Why I am No Longer Talking To White People About Race. I like to broaden my horizon as much as possible when it comes to books. You can follow my love of all things books on my Instagram page: My Reading Chair.

She is also a recovering lawyer, but asks that you do not hold that against her. She lives with her husband and their adorable fur baby in the beautiful city of Toronto. I fell in love with books and reading in fourth grade – thanks to a persistent teacher, (thank you, Mrs. Giraldi). I love to read and I love ALL things books. Although I have lots of books, I can’t help myself and continue adding to my “collection”. Also, my to be read pile is out of control and quite ridiculous! I honestly enjoy reading all types of books, but tend to gravitate towards diverse books and authors. However, I will honestly read anything that piques my interest. Reading is a necessary and relaxing outlet for me. Nothing makes me happier than curling up with a new book (and a glass — or two of wine).

Taylor Bridgeforth

I walk with a book in my hand, to take full advantage of an opportunity to read in case I have to stop for any mundane reason. I’ve read so many books I’ve started to write several of my own. Taylortaless.wordpress.com was only the beginning.

I’ve enjoyed reading for as long as I can remember! The interesting worlds that a book can bring you to are endless and there’s so much to learn. I’m one of the proud hosts of the Edmonton Girly Book Club as well. If you’re interested in what I think about GBC or other books, my site is www.readviews.ca

The Girly Book Club has allowed me to make so many friendships and I feel so proud to be part of the team. I have been a member of GBC for five years now and have been the Toronto host for about three years now. Reading is my escape and it allows me to slow down. Writing blogs for the GBC has been so much fun and gives me the perfect excuse to clear my schedule to read a good book.

The weight of my purse reflects the size of the book and/or my Kindle that goes everywhere with me. Reading is one of my greatest passions and I have an appreciation for all genres  – my favorites include business non-fiction, contemporary, graphic novels, and science fiction. I moved from Ohio to Boston and loved finding the Boston GBC chapter when I was new to the city! Connect with me on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/marienguyen

Kristy Bradshaw

Kristy Bradshaw

I’m Kirsty from Belfast in Northern Ireland. My mum would tell you I was born reading. So much so, that she would often catch me reading the back of a cereal packet as I ate my breakfast before school!

I have a wide and varied taste in books and get most of my reading done on my daily commute to work and on my work breaks (along with my only chance for a hot cuppa!). I love discovering new authors and trying different genres, but I do occasionally return to my favourites (Pride & Prejudice being the main culprit, but I did reread Dodie Smith’s 101 Dalmatians dozens of times growing up) Reviewing for The Girly Book Club is my only outlet for writing at the moment, but I would like to explore this aspect further (parenting duties permitting!). I can be found on Goodreads. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/76643850-kirsty

I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. In first grade my teacher, Mrs. Love, handed me a copy of Charlotte’s Web and that changed everything. Reading allows me to escape real life and learn about things that I don’t experience in my regular day to day. I always have a book in my bag, most often a thriller or a memoir! Reading also led me to the GBC, which has provided me with thoughtful discussions on books of all sorts and friendships to last a lifetime.

Jennifer McCord

I’ve been a Girly Book Club member in Cincinnati since November of
2017 and an avid bookworm ever since I first learned to read. My
favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, but I enjoy reading a
wide variety of genres. I fell head over heels in love with the Harry
Potter series as a kid, and I love rereading them to this day.

Julie Ramhold

Julie Ramhold

Julie’s grandfather taught her to read at the age of 3 with a stack of Dr. Seuss books. Since then, she’s always had a book (or four) in hand. Her to-read list continues to grow at an alarming rate, and she primarily enjoys mysteries and thrillers, though she never says no to a title that will make her laugh out loud.

Brittany Ahr

Brittany Ahr

Brittany is a (New) Jersey girl who works in Digital Media and travels every chance she can get, often with about 4 books in tow.  Her love of stories stems from watching musicals and Disney movies, and reading any fairytale she could get her hands on as a child and is constantly looking for a new story. Brittany loves how a story can bring people together by simply relaying a feeling that often can be difficult to express otherwise. Brittany has a BA in English with a concentration in Digital Media and Psychology and a certificate in Creative Writing from Rutgers University. You can find her on twitter at @b_ahr_guest, Instagram at @b.ahr.guest, or on a beach somewhere, reading Harry Potter or anything Meg Cabot for the hundredth time.

When I’m not enjoying being a full-time speechwriter at work, I escape read 6-7 books a month, attend as many book signings as I can, and am a proud member of the Atlanta Girly Book Club! I enjoy writing for the GBC blog, and I’m working on my first novel.
