    Hey ladies,

I’m curious what everyone’s reading right now! I’ve just finished our latest GBC Book of the Month and am looking for something to slip into before starting Lily and The Octopus for March. What do you recommend?

I am reading Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown. It’s fabulous and is giving me so much to think about and ponder about my own life.

Ohhh! I have loved Brene Brown’s Ted Talks and have been meaning to pick up some of her books! Thank you for the suggestion (and reminder), Jennifer! 🙂

I’m currently reading Lily and the Octopus (I have to host this one in March!). But I also just finished The Girl in the Tower (book #2 in the Winternight Trilogy). If you haven’t read The Bear and the Nightengale (book #1) you should! Katherine Arden does a great job of weaving in Russian folklore and fairytale to suck you into her medieval Russian world.

I will admit I totally had to look up this series, as I haven’t heard of it before, but it looks super interesting! Plus the series has an AMAZING score on GoodReads too. Thanks for the reco, Katie!

I finally finished My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent (I had been reading it for two months and was really struggling to get through it!) I picked it up after reading a fair amount of criticism on it – amidst many positive reviews – and wanted to form my own opinion.
I will admit I have mixed feelings about it; quite heavy/disturbing content, but Turtle was a unique and fascinating character. Has anyone else read it? Thoughts?

I’m reading The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck
I just started it a few days ago based on a recommendation since I really enjoyed other WWII stories with a female perspective like The Nightingale and The Alice Network. It’s very good so far!

I’m reading Come From Away by a Canadian Author – it’s about WWII I am moderating an author event the end of April – which I LOVE LOVE LOVE to do – but I usually have to ensure I read all their books which can be a big job!

Currently reading The Women in the Castle, by Jessica Shattuck
It’s about widows of the resistance in Germany just after the fall of the Nazis. Really good so far!

I am currently reading NOTHING. I have tons of books on my eReader but nothing is sparking my interest. I am in a reading funk right now! I need help! I need a suggestion for a book that will grab me from the first page, that’s the only thing that will fix the reading funk. I like time travel, suspense, politics, supernatural but nothing too romancey (if that’s a word!).

A few that really grabbed me recently:
The Girl with All The Gifts, M. R. Carey
      The Power, Naomi Alderman
Children of Blood and Bone, Tomi Adeyemi
Also, The Passenger, by Lisa Lutz, and The Woman in Cabin 10, by Ruth Ware, I’d kind of classify both as… not necessarily “great” books, but they both pulled me in and kept me turning the pages. Fun reads, but not super memorable if that makes any sense.

I have just finished reading Bonds of Love by Sarah K. It’s an erotica novel on BDSM, I didn’t think I would enjoy it, but it was the sequel to the first novel by the same author, The Secret Life of a Submissive. It was very well written and left me wide eyed with intrigue. Before that I read a great book called The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson. The plot twist in that I did not see coming and was blown away by the ending! I have a load of books on my Kindle at the moment so whilst reading the GBC June selection I am also going to read The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. I love psychological thrillers so this is right up my alley. Always open to suggestions too!

I just recently finished The Magician’s Ball by Alex Kirschbaum and I loved it. It’s set in Central Europe and features sibling rivalry, illicit romance, attempted murder and so much more. Honestly, I couldn’t put it down. I’m on the hunt now for a great biography to read to change it up. Might read about the Kennedys.
